Facts About Emus.

EmuEmus are found in Australia by the Aborigines.   To the Aborigine people     Emus play a large part Aboriginal Dream time and are regarded as sacred.  Emus also have a prominent place in Australian mythology, including a creation myth of the Yuwaalaraay and other groups in NSW who say that the sun was made by throwing an Emu’s egg into the sky. This audiological stories are told across a number of Aboriginal groups.

Emus species date back almost 40 million years ago.  Emus are popular but unofficially considered as a faunal emblem -the national bird of Australia.  The Emu is on the 50 cent Australian coin, postage stamps, and shares a spot with the Red Kangaroo on the Arms.  The Emu is also appears on the pre-federation of New South Wales 100 th Anniversary issue from 1888,which featured a 2 pence blue Emu stamp, a 36 cent released 1986, and a $1.35 stamp released in 1994.
